Built-in Defects
Track and manage defects directly in TestKase.
Overview
TestKase provides built-in defect management for teams that do not need to push defects to an external issue tracker. You create defects from the project's Defects tab, assign priority and status, link them to the test cases that uncovered them and the requirements they affect, and track them through your resolution workflow -- all within TestKase.
Key Capabilities
- Create defects from the Defects tab -- Add a defect and link it to the test cases and requirements it relates to. Linked defects then appear on those test cases, including in the test-execution view, where they are shown read-only.
- Set priority and status -- Assign priority levels (Blocker, Critical, Major, Minor, Trivial) and track status through the defect lifecycle (Open, Assigned, In Testing, Deployed, Closed, Achieve).
- Link to test cases and requirements -- Establish traceability by linking defects to the test cases that uncovered them and the requirements they affect.
- Track workflow -- Monitor defects from discovery through resolution with status transitions and audit history.
Built-in defects belong to the project's Built-in defect integration. If you later switch that project's defect integration to anything else -- the Jira, GitHub or GitLab card under API Integrations, the Jira Plugin, or a Chrome Extension card -- or reset the Built-in integration, TestKase permanently deletes every built-in defect in the project. Connecting the Jira Plugin or a Chrome Extension card on the Requirement Integration page does the same thing, because one configuration covers both types. Defects are not migrated and cannot be recovered. Export anything you need first.
