Getting Started
Start your first Live session — pick a browser or device, configure it, launch, and drive it in real time.
Getting Started
A Live session takes seconds to start: pick what you want to test, launch it, and drive it from your tab. This page walks through your first session end to end.
Start a session
Step 1 — Pick a browser or device
From the Live picker, choose what you want to drive:
- A desktop browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari on macOS or Windows.
- A real phone or tablet — a real iPhone, iPad, or Android device from the fleet.
The left rail switches between platforms; the dropdowns underneath let you narrow down the exact browser, OS version, or device model.
Step 2 — Configure it
Depending on what you picked, set the details for the session:
- Browsers — choose the browser, OS version, and screen resolution.
- Devices — choose the manufacturer and model.
- Your app (optional) — upload an
.ipa/.apk, or pick one from My apps, to have it installed automatically when the session opens. See Installing Apps.
Options that aren't ready right now are greyed out. A model that's already in a live session, or a browser VM that's still warming up after a previous session, stays disabled until it's genuinely ready to start. The picker auto-selects the first available option for you.
Step 3 — Launch
Click Start. The device or browser boots (a warm browser starts in a few seconds) and its screen begins streaming into your tab over live video.
Step 4 — Drive it
Once the stream is live, interact with it directly:
- Click / tap anywhere on the streamed screen.
- Type with your keyboard — into the page, the app, or the browser's URL bar.
- Scroll and swipe to move around.
- On phones, use gestures and device controls (Home, Back, volume, rotate) from the toolbar.
Everything you do happens on the real device in real time.
The session toolbar
Every session has a toolbar with the in-session tools. What's available depends on the device or browser, but the common actions are:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Screenshot | Capture the current screen; saved to the session gallery. |
| Record | Record an MP4 of the session. |
| Audio / unmute | The stream starts muted — click to hear the device's audio. |
| Device controls | Home, Back, App Switcher, volume, and rotate (mobile). |
| Location | Set the device's GPS coordinates (mobile). |
| Files & media | Push files, photos, or videos onto the device. |
| Logs | Read the live log tail from the device or browser. |
| Device info | See the model, OS version, and session details. |
| End session | Stop and release the device for the next user. |
Full details for each are on the Session Tools page.
The video stream starts muted so a session never surprises you with sound. Click the audio button to unmute and hear the device — useful for testing media playback, in-app sounds, and calls.
Ending a session
Click End session when you're done. The device is cleaned and released back to the fleet for the next user, and your session time stops counting against your allowance. Screenshots and recordings you captured stay available in the session gallery.
