Trello

Connect Trello with an API key and a token, and file reports as cards in a list.

Before you start

A Trello account that is a member of the board where cards should be created. Trello needs two values — an API key and a Token — and both come from a Power-Up.

The Power-Up page also shows a Secret. TestKase does not use it. The two fields are API key and Token, and they are different values — pasting the same one into both fails with invalid key or invalid app token.

Get the API key and token from Trello

  1. Go to trello.com/power-ups/admin → New. Name it TestKase, pick your workspace, click Create.
  2. Open the Power-Up → API key tab → Generate a new API key. Copy the API key — this is the first TestKase field.
  3. In the text next to the key, click the blue Token link ("…you can manually generate a Token"). Click Allow on the permission screen.
  4. Copy the long string Trello shows. This is the Token — the second TestKase field.

If the Token link isn't visible, add https://trello.com under Allowed origins on the same page and it appears.

Connect it in TestKase

  1. Open Organization → Integrations → Project management and click Connect on the Trello card.
  2. Paste the API key in the first field and the Token in the second. Click Connect.
  3. Choose a board, then the list on it where cards should be created. Click Save.

What gets created

A card in that list, created by the token's owner, with the report title as the card name and the pre-filled details as its description. The screenshot is attached to the card.

Troubleshooting

▶"Trello rejected the API key or token"

The same value in both fields, or a token from a different key.

Fix: Reconnect with the key in the first field and the Token in the second.

▶"That Trello list no longer exists"

The default list was archived or deleted.

Fix: ⋮ → Edit and choose another list.

▶Board list is empty

The token's user isn't a member of any open board.

Fix: Join a board, or create one.
