Changing seats & threads
How to add or remove seats and threads. Adding more starts now and you pay only for the days left. Removing takes effect when your current billing period ends.
Overview
You can change the size of three products:
- Test Management — by seats (one per user).
- Automate and Live — by threads (one thread = one session running at a time).
Visual and Accessibility have nothing to resize. Visual is one flat plan for the whole organization, and Accessibility is free.
Resizing is owner only — organization admins and members cannot change a subscription's size.
To change size, open Organization → Subscriptions, pick the product tab, set the new count and confirm.
Upgrades
An upgrade — more seats, more threads — takes effect immediately and is charged pro-rata on the card saved with the subscription for the remainder of the current billing cycle.
Your new seats or threads are added once the payment provider confirms the payment, so there can be a short delay after you pay. If they have not appeared, wait a moment and reload before contacting support.
Downgrades
A downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and there are no refunds for the unused portion of what you already paid for. Until the cycle ends you keep your current seats or threads.
You can't see or undo a downgrade in the app. It is saved, but the Subscriptions page won't show it. If you change your mind, contact support before your billing period ends.
Bounds
| Product | Minimum | Maximum | Unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automate | 1 | 20 | Parallel threads |
| Live | 1 | 20 | Parallel threads |
| Test Management | 4 | 100 | Seats |
| Accessibility | — | — | Free — no subscription, nothing to resize |
On an Enterprise plan, you can't change seats or threads in the app. Ask your account manager, or email [email protected].
Guards that will reject a change
Two Test Management rules will refuse a seat change outright:
- The seat floor is 4. You cannot downgrade a paid Test Management subscription to 3 seats or fewer. If you want fewer than 4 seats, downgrade to the free plan instead.
- You cannot request fewer seats than the organization has members. Remove the members you no longer need first, then reduce the seat count.
Pending invitations matter here too. An invitation you have sent but nobody has accepted yet already holds a seat in your quota, so a seat count that only covers your current members can leave you with no room to spare the moment you resize. Cancel any invitations you no longer need from Organization → Members before you reduce the count. See Team Management.
UPI and e-mandate subscriptions
A subscription paid by UPI / e-mandate cannot change seats or threads at all. The payment provider does not allow the change, so you will see an error pointing you to support. This is a limitation of the payment method, not of your plan. If you need to resize a UPI-backed subscription, contact support.
▶I upgraded and paid, but my new threads have not appeared. What is wrong?
They are added once the payment provider confirms the payment, which can take a moment. Wait and reload. If they still have not appeared, contact support.
▶Can I cancel a pending downgrade?
Not from the app. Setting the count back to its current value is rejected with "You already have N seats." (or "…N threads." on Automate and Live), and the subscription card does not show the pending change at all. Contact support before the cycle ends.
▶Do I get a refund if I reduce seats mid-cycle?
No. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current cycle and there are no refunds for the unused portion.
▶Why can't I go below 4 Test Management seats?
4 is the paid-plan floor. Below that, the correct move is to downgrade to the free plan rather than to reduce seats.
