Storage

Full reference for organization storage — quota by plan, what counts toward it, usage monitoring, and how to get more space.

Overview

Storage belongs to Test Management. It is consumed by files attached to test cases, requirements and defects, and by nothing else — Live, Automate and Accessibility do not use it. The Storage page shows your current usage, plan tier, and options for getting more space; it appears only if your organization has Test Management.

Storage Allocation

Storage works differently on Free and on the paid plans. Free is a flat 3 GB for the whole organization; paid plans are 3 GB per seat, so they grow as you add people:

PlanStorage QuotaDetails
Always Free3 GB in totalA flat allowance — it does not grow when you invite your second and third user
Premium3 GB per seatScales with your seat count (e.g., 10 seats = 30 GB)
Enterprise3 GB per seatSame rate as Premium — only the price and the seat ceiling are negotiated

On a paid plan, storage scales automatically with your seat count — adding a seat to your subscription adds another 3 GB. On Free the 3 GB is fixed, so upgrading is what increases it.

Monitoring Usage

Navigate to Organization → Storage to view your storage dashboard. The entry appears only for organizations with Test Management:

  • Plan badge — Shows whether you are on the Free or Premium Test Management plan.
  • Progress bar — Visual indicator of storage consumption with a percentage display.
  • Tooltip details — Hover over the progress bar to see used GB, free GB, total GB, and usage percentage.

Color Indicators

The progress bar uses color coding to indicate storage health:

Usage LevelColorMeaning
Below 80%GreenStorage is healthy — plenty of space remaining
80% or aboveRedStorage is running low — consider taking action

When storage usage reaches 80% or above, the progress bar turns red as a warning. Free up space by removing unused attachments, or — on a paid plan — add seats for additional storage. On Free the 3 GB does not move, so upgrading is the only way to raise it.

What Counts Toward Storage

Storage quota is consumed by file attachments, and nothing else. There are exactly three kinds:

  • Test case attachments — files attached to a test case.
  • Requirement attachments — files attached to a requirement.
  • Defect attachments — files attached to a defect.

Usage is summed across every project in the organization.

What does not count

Nothing outside those three touches your storage quota:

  • Automate and Live session artifacts — recordings, logs and HAR files. They have their own 30-day retention and are never charged against storage.
  • Uploaded app builds (.apk / .ipa), which have their own 90-day lifetime.
  • Accessibility scan results and reports.
  • The records themselves — test cases, cycles, plans, requirements, defects, comments and reports. Only the files attached to them count, and there is no cap on how many records you create.

Per-file limits

A single attachment cannot exceed 50 MB, whatever your plan and however much quota you have left. A larger file is refused with "File exceeds 50MB limit". This cap is the same on Free, Premium and Enterprise, and having spare quota does not raise it.

Two other uploads are refused outright:

  • Unsupported file types. An attachment must be a document (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, plain text or Markdown), an image, or a video. Anything else returns "Unsupported file type: …".
  • A file that would take you past your quota, which returns "Organization storage limit exceeded". TestKase charges your quota by the size of the file that actually arrived, not the size the uploader claimed, so a mis-declared size cannot slip past the limit.

Getting More Storage

Free Plan Users

The Always Free plan comes with 3 GB in total, however many of its three user slots you fill. If you need more storage:

  • Click Upgrade to Premium on the Storage page to navigate to the Subscriptions page.
  • On Premium, storage becomes per-seat — each seat carries another 3 GB, so a 4-seat organization holds 12 GB.

Premium Plan Users

If you are on the Premium plan and need storage beyond your current allocation:

  • Add more seats — Each additional seat adds 3 GB to your total quota. This is the only way to increase storage; there is no add-on storage to buy.
  • Free up space — Remove attachments you no longer need from test cases and defects.
